The Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group is inviting farmers to attend unmissable Farm Climate Change Events to showcase technologies, innovations, ideas and best practice in all aspects of resource management and efficiency.  The events, which are funded by Natural England, take place at Crewe Alexandra Football Club, Cheshire on 5th March and Wortley Hall, Wortley, near Sheffield on 10th March.

The events, which run from 10.30 am until 3.30 pm, are a not-to-be-missed opportunity for farmers, land owners and land managers to find out all they need to know about:

  • How climate change may affect them and their farm business and what they can do to maximize the commercial opportunities that will arise from it
  • Renewable energy technologies including wind turbines, solar power, hydro, anaerobic digestion, groundwater heat pumps and wood fuel burners
  • Rainwater harvesting
  • Nutrient management
  • Waste management and recycling
  • Feeding for efficiency gains

Companies specialising in equipment, installation, innovation, advisory services and grant provision will be exhibiting at this event.  Farmers can visit the trade stands and find out everything they need to know about maximizing the efficient use of resources on their farm.

Workshop presentations will be ongoing throughout the day.  Presentations include topics such as how to reduce water bills by harvesting rainwater, marketing opportunities for wood fuel from farm woodlands, renewable energy solutions and Carbon Auditing.

Chloe Palmer, Regional Director with FWAG commented:

‘We are delighted to invite farmers to attend these premier events at Crewe and Sheffield.  The events will be a unique opportunity for farmers to find out everything they need to know about the challenge of climate change and making better use of resources and inputs.'

She added:

‘Trade exhibits will focus on everything from renewable energy to water use, nutrient management to energy crops, environmental grants to advice on feed rations.  Farmers can't afford to miss it!'

A free hot lunch that is locally sourced will be provided on the day and all farmers will get an information pack on arrival.  Places are expected to disappear fast so booking is essential.  Farmers wishing to reserve a place for the Cheshire event should ring Helen Broughton on (01270) 627938 or e-mail helen.broughton@fwag.org.uk.  For the Yorkshire event, contact the FWAG team in Yorkshire on (01609) 783 632 or e-mail dorinda.dixon@fwag.org.uk.
